You are very much better off sticking with wood. I thought the exact same thing with the flex and cook burner. My flex is junk. I have quite literally thrown it across the ice….as have other people. I contacted mr heater about the issue and radio silence

It either won’t light or won’t stay lit. People scoff at that and say something is plugged, hit it with alcohol…do this, do that and none of that has worked for me. It’ will just flicker for literally hours and never light. Or sometimes it will light right up like nothing is wrong and then in 10 minutes it will go out. After that, it’s a fight to use again. It’s a good thing it comes with a battery powered ignition because you’d never get it lit by hand. I kind of show it in this video if you want to watch it. Any further questions just send me a message so we don’t clutter up the deals thread.

 I think the flex heatere were a bust.  They're never not on sale, that has to tell ya something.  Lots of guys also have issues with the big buddy but my 2 portable buddies have been bomb proof for over 10 years now.

2 things. Have you tried using the 1# bombs with same results? If so...I can't help you.  And what type hose are you using? Until I went to the "green" hose ( actually black in color now) I had the same issues with my Mr. Heater sunflower. The wrong hose can leech impurities into the heater causing the issues you are having. Hope this helps.

Yes. I was afraid of this. I just also wanted to make people aware that there are definitely problems with the flex. I actually don’t know anyone that bought one, that loves theirs.
