Now you got my wheels turning. I spent a few weekends modding my ice auger and can't wait to try it. So why wait?

LOL FF my job may be sending me south for 3 months starting January. I told them my wife would pissed. They asked Why and I told them when she drives by the lake up the road and sees me outside of my portable shanty 2 days in a row on the weekend and I never showed up at the house. They just kinda looked at me funny. I guess they don't ice fish!!

I do this with my fish tank which has some pumpkin seeds and bluegill in it so i can see their reaction and the jig better as well

1. You start watching youtube ice fishing videos in September.
2. It bugs you that ice fishing gear is seasonal, and you cant buy it year round.

No kidding!! I've been hounding Gander Mnt. about getting their stuff out so I can try out the new shanty before I buy it!

Same here, whenever I check the weather during the summer and see 90+ degrees, I just marathon all my favorite ice fishing vids and just reminisce about my ice season!

I always keep a jigging rod or two out through the summer, so I can jig off my kayak while paddling around. Lol

I'm always thinking of things to improve or try come ice season.

I tinker through the summer for new things to try on the ice.

Last summer I made a couple hundred ice jigs, this year a couple heated bucket seats,......

i visit the local trout pond and chop a hole through half an inch of ice so i can jig off the dock.
(it actually works really well)

When open water fishing after August is focused on getting bait for the hard deck.

In two days I will be spending the day fishing for chubs on a trophy trout lake to stock the freezer. go figure.
