Natures beauty ....the brilliant and vibrant colors on your catch as it is  landed from the hole ...the snow covered scenery ...every memory and picture has the perfect backdrop ...some days are just majestic .. also you can fish with all you friends as there is plenty of room ...not so much with a boat

The fresh air
Crowds and noise can be avoided if you choose the right place.
Ice camping
The fish are healthier and better eating than during summer
As others mentioned - no bugs, jet skis, tourists, etc.
