Title: Checking in!
Post by: POk3s on Nov 02, 2022, 10:47 AM
I知 here and ready for ice!

I will say, that I will never complain about the fall season in Wyoming ever again! It was gorgeous, and not even many days with that dreaded W!

Regardless, cold and snow is coming this weekend. I知 hoping it ices up a couple small, high elevation lakes around here.

For those that need an ice fishing fix to watch, I made an entire ice fishing series last year, doing my best to travel around Wyoming. I値l include an episode I did with a few shanty members! Appleye, Special, and Houligan invited me over to their crappie honey hole and showed me a great time!!

I present as well. We could extend the winter weather a couple months that would be fine! Are you going to do a remake at Keyhole? Lots of crappies in the system right now. Found lots of new rockpiles this fall. KH state park made a couple new cabins that should rock for Ice fishing might check that out instead of sleeping on the ice.

Yea I plan on being back! Basically going to pick a good weather weekend and head that way. The best weekend is New Years, like last year, but my wife is telling me we値l be coming home from a tropical island that weekend. Damn the bad luck! So I値l have to figure out another one.

Checked a minnow trap today and there was ice on the canal so water is definitely cooling down.

If you want to stop by the laramie area to ice fish on your there or back let me know.  There will be ice somewhere around here by the weekend.  Alot of the small plains lakes, and hopefully the big ones too.

I really would consider it, but it痴 quite a bit out of my way! And really I have 3 more days this year to kill a deer, so I have to go for it! Thank you very much for your offer waterlike! Very generous of you! Thanksgiving weekend I値l be looking for somewhere to go!

Lots of water that could be fished around the Black Hills and just across the border in SD.

Heard the Blackhill has lots of invasive species which now requires all boat fishing in south east wyoming to be check prior to launching. Hows things going with that on Keyhole???

meadowlark lake up HWY 16 is good to go. Just be careful. Ice has been recently insulated with a blanket of snow and a person has already gone trough. approx 6 inches of ice but top 3 is trash. fishing has been good with spawning brookies (good size) and 15 inch bows. caught almost 30 on monday and going back this weekend. Plus the G and F stocked 600 goldens in there in October.

Thanks for the report on Meadowlark. January-like temps for at least the next week around the Big Horn basin. Minus 2 right now.

Meadowlark is completely safe again. we had 7 inches of nice solid ice near the boat ramp side of the lake with single digit temps and no slush on top on 11/14/22. caught some more nice 15 inch bows and spawning brookies.

Trent you should make a trip to Glendo. Elk horn last year was producing good walleye and catfish. Plus a few good crappie. Might be worth a trip. January to Feb it usually good. . Edges can be rough but plank it and you'll be fine.

Hey Trent, special is right about glendo. And Elkhorn has been capped for more than a week. I didn't see your last message about Thanksgiving weekend for some reason. Sorry! Anytime you want, I'd take you out on any of the mid to south eastern lakes in Wyoming.

Cool. I may add it to the list! A good walleye weekend would be ideal!
