I will be checking/fishing around Dutchess/Ulster Tuesday and will report then. I know Morgan Lake is ready in spots, not sure if it received the usual stocking this year from the Sportsmans Club though

Morgan Lake has 3 1/2 inches on it. Nobody has fished it yet.

was on White Pond Sunday jigging for a few hours.. slow a couple perch and a gill.. 3 1/2 to 4" ice .. went way in the middle on the fresh black ice..

Was out on Long Pond Sunday Morning with a buddy. 5" of Good black ice. Went to Upton to check there only 2 inches. Poked a hole ten yards out and almost got wet!

Hope to be out again this weekend. Also heard guys are already on Sodom and parts of Muscoot !

Fished Morgan yesterday, 3-4 inches of ice. Jigged up a few gills, and one decent LM bass, all in an hour or two.

Fished Whaley tonight and there was seven inches under the snow. Picked up some lm bass, pickerel, and a few Dink perch. Biggest bass was four pounds, why can't I find them during the summer??

Hitting uptown this am. Caught 2 Browns and a brookie on wednesday. South end of the lake is good. Some thin ice along main rd. West side and along shore on east side. Sylvan has a good skim on it! Shouldn't be long now for there!

Fished Stissing Lake this morning. 6" of ice . Caught 6 keeper crappies .

WAS ON UPTON SAT.ABOUT 5'' ON THE END WHERE YOU GET ON THE ICE. THIN ICE ON THE NORTH SIDE.GUYS WENT ABOUT HALF WAY DOWN THE THICKER AREA TOWARDS THE MIDDLE,BUT THE ICE WAS GETTING TOO THIN TO GET TO THE OTHER END.FISHED HALF A DAY,THE TROUT WERE HITTING PRETTY GOOD.EVERYBODY WAS GETTING FLAGS,MORE SO EARLIER THEN IT TAPERED OFF.FOR THOSE FISHING THE OTHER SIDE OF THE RIVER,CHODIKEE LAKE 8'' ICE. FISHING WAS SO SO ,BASS,PICKEREL,SOME SMALL SUNNIES.

Ive seen people out on Sylvan, but there is still some open water in spots. BE CAREFUL!! Last weekend it was just beginning to skim over.

Bring a plank and wear a pfd. You never know. I have a pfd that looks like a fishing vest, so I don't get the weird looks from the future statistics and chum pots. (Not that it really matters) I don't care for the inflatables, but that's just me.

HATE TO SAY IT BUT YOU GUYS ARE RIGHT----was out today and the plank did not help, I can tell you though, the water is cold----it is over--time to move on to the next adventure --trout season --turkey--and so on. It was a great ice season and the long winter went by like a flash for us. Since I am new to Ice Shanty do we continue on with other great stories, tactics and advice thru the rest of our seasons? if not thanks for all the advice and pictures .
