Lake Francis Ice Derby

Just wanted to let everyone know that the VVFD Ice Derby on Lake Francis is on this Saturday!  This cold spell has put good ice back on the lake, looks like even the areas that had opened up have a good 8"+ of ice (as of saturday morning).  Tight lines...

Mostly good ice, be careful.  We popped holes everywhere that wasn't frozen from this last cold snap.  some of it is good 8-10" then will go to about 3" pretty quick.  Watched people on quads blowing right through those areas oblivious to the conditions.  Should be fine because it's supposed to stay pretty cold for the week, but still be careful if you haven't been out there much recently.

Ok guys how did the derby go ?

Fishing was okay, we caught 20 perch all around a pound.  Top three perch were between 1.8-1.4lbs.  We also caught 8 walleye with the biggest one at 14".  We must have found the nursery.  Only one northern all day that was 3.5lbs.  top three northerns were 5.8-4.7lbs.
