beavertail pond ice conditions
« on: Dec 03, 2009, 06:09 PM »
headed out to beavertail pond today, mmm, not good. did not fall through, but the ice (after drilling a hole) was about 3-3.5 inches thick. here are some pics of the ice for you guys!

it was pretty scary after the second hole when the ice cracked and shot about 200 feet in front of me toward the shore. also cracked right around the hole. glad I was only about 4 ft out where the water depth is about 1.5 feet deep!

here are also some pics of the Clark Fork river heading out of east Missoula. doesn't look like good fishing on the river (unfishable right now)
but thats why we have Georgetown lake! it looks like if you want to fish right now ice or open water you would have to fish in fast current or at Georgetown lake.

hope you enjoyed the pics and the report of beavertail pond and the Clark Fork.

Tight Lines!

After this recent cold snap Beavertail Pond should be thick enough to stand on.
