Need help choosing Marmish jigs.
« on: Nov 16, 2006, 02:24 PM »
I'm going to take advantage of the Marmish / Ice Shanty offer.

Just want everyones experience with the different styles and colours.  The lakes I fish are primarily very clear water.

My targets will be:
Crappie, Trout, Perch, Gills.

Thanks in advance,
Drew

I've been very happy with Marmish lures. I don't believe you can go wrong with any .. my favorite is the Maggot.

My favorites : Maggot, Garlic Clove, Chort and Fang.  ;D

For trout I like green larva size 1 or 2. Then my #2 spot would be green fang. I don't fish for anything mentioned except trout.
Check out their catalogue as it does say what the lure is ideal for.

No marmish order is complete without a pack or two of the larger sized maggots, they are by far my most produtive marmish. I also like the Ants, and garlic clove

Which ones are the "laefer sized maggots" ??

I may spring for a schwack of marmish jigs. Buying 10 packs pretty well gets free shipping with the ice shanty offer.

are the sizes of the hooks cosistent with the smaller the even number the larger the hook? or is it some different system of measure. a 1 and 2 sound kind of big for most panfish. i think it is the smaller the number the smaller the hook. i would really appreciate it if someone would let me know if i am right or wrong.

The are all pretty small, small enough for panfish. The larger numbers are bigger.

The Marmish guy at the St Paul Ice Fishing show said the maggot and larvas are the best sellers, and heaviest hitters as far as panfish were concerned.
