alright, I am gonna get a bit more serious with jigging this year with my new vex, already bought a couple new jigging rods, but now I need some jigs. so just a few questions
-What jigs do I need to get up to par ( or even better then )
-what jigs hould/shouldn't be tipped with live or dead bait?
-when using swedish pimples, do you use the split ring for the eye? and is there a poreference for those little plastic flappers?
anything else would be appreciated as well.

It's good to see that you'll be back. I met you a few years ago at Tuscarora. You gave me a cubby mini-mite lure that day. Well, I took it back to my spot and proceeded to catch a bluegill, walleye and LM bass on it, all out of the same hole! Needless to say, I was on "Panfish Pro's" website that night and ordered a whole collection of the mini-mites. This is a quote from a Post in the PA board I swear by the Cubby mini mite. If it swims it will eat a cubby. I like red head and white tail or glow.

I love my Northland Forage Minnow Jig and Fry along with the doodle bug and spider ants. 8)
Tipped with either spikes, mousies, mealworms, or 1/2 or whole minnows.

Some of my favorites, in no particular order:
Marmish Ant
Marmish Fly
Arnold's Fairy Jig
CS&J's Nuclear Ant
CS&J's Shrimpo
CS&J's Ratso
Marmooskas
Basic "trout head" from Jann's that I paint and "dress up" as I see fit.
This is for gills and perch. All are tipped with maggots, waxies, mousies, minnows, or wigglers, depending on what I'm fishing for and what I've got with me to use. I don't fish for crappies or walleyes often enough to offer an intelligent opinion. I don't know if you've got a Gander Mountain nearby, but mine stocks bulk rocker jigs in different colors. The smallest they stock (I think there 1/16th or 1/32nd ounce) are good all-around winter panfish jigs and they're 3 for a buck.

Lots of good choices mention allready . Early ice I use larger stuff like 3" tube jigs and 1/16 oz . jig heads for larger trout and downsize the later the ice is , but the small stuff like rat finkies works most of the time . I like forage minnows fry and genz bugs for most of my fishing too . It all depends on what your fishing for too .

Halis, and Fat Boys for deep water, the 3mm Wolfram in gold with a glow bead, and various colors Shrimpos and Ratsos, usually tipped with maggots. This selection is my main choices for gills, perch, and sometimes crappie.
