Title: Has anyone ever tried a spinner bait?
Post by: busler15 on Dec 05, 2006, 09:52 AM
Has anyone ever tried hard water jigging with the conventional open water spinner bait like kevin vandam uses? I know that a lot of people use them in open water somewhat as a jig by throwing them into a hole and letting them helicopter down. Just wondering if anyone has ever tried helicoptering a spinner bait like a jig for pike or bass or walleye in the winter?

I have a 30 year old trout bait that is kind of like an orange spinner blade on a safety pin. The blade can slide back and forth on the shaft and it is pretty deadly when you jig it up off of the bottom and let it helicopter down again. I can't remember what it is called though.
