Read a post,not sure if it was here or on MFF, a fellow had a under water camera and observed that the larger Walleye prefer a dead stick with salted minnows over a live minnow or a rod being jigged ? May be some truth behind this, most of the larger ones I catch are with this method. Nice pics guys !!!!

They are very finicky in the winter they want a nice easy meal. Sometimes that live is moving too much for them to take it. Ive caught a 30.5 inch walleye on a live minnow ice fishing though and a 31 incher on a salty.

Honestly I'd have to say dead stick has been the ticket this year haven't really caught many while jigging, usually jig one rod and deadstick the other in my shack and when I mark one on my flasher he'll stare at my jig for abit then go right to my dead stick almost everytime

cold windy and deep snow are the factors affecting this post!! last years ice fishing was to good to be true. this winter had to come sooner or later.. that just means march fishing is going to be good!! wait this post will blow up in march!!

No I know better not to use a 8 inch hole had to many close calls. Even with a 10
inch you still get close calls but not as many.
