Got 350 pounds worth in about an hour. Many that went over 4 pounds.

LOTS of work cleaning. There is quite a bit of waste in a spawning Sucker full of roe. Only about 20% by weight of fillets.
Now...
1 - Smoking about half of them (brined them last night).
2 - Grinding the other half to make "fish cakes" and freeze.

Landing net (most of them), small fishing spear and just grabbing them by hand.

I remember making spears in shop class in Babbitt (class of '79) for spearing Suckers. We used to get all "smoked up" and run up and down Stoney River and spear the hell out of them. Great times!!
Thanks for the report man, brings back some memories!
I tell people that we smoked Suckers and ate 'em & they don't believe me. Great Beer food!!
