Black Ops Ice Rod spooled up
« on: Dec 29, 2014, 01:49 PM »
Since you can never have enough gear and toys i got a Black ops ice rod and spooled it up with #2 Berkley Micro Ice figuring i'd chase gills and perch while im waiting for flags on the tip ups.

Anyone with any feed back on these rods???

Spoiled up and fished the quicktip version the other day with 3lb. I liked it overall and used it to land over 100 fish albeit small ones on Saturday.
It's a great deeper water, small jig rod when stripping line by hand and feeding it down the hole. It would drop a 1/32 jig down 15 ft in 5 to 6 seconds. I just set the drag loose and palmed the spool.
I can't wait to try it out on some bigger fish.
Only problem I ran into was back reeling to fine tune jig depth would sometimes wrap the line around the reel handle or frame. Overall a decent buy in my book and pretty fun to fish.
