Buck Tail jig for cusks

Hey I was wondering what colors and how you would jig a buck tail for cusks. The cusks in NH love them and bought some jigs. Hope to get a monster this season.

I've never caught one.

A friend of mine fishes for them.  He uses cutbait on a large airplane jig.

He jigs it very slowly next to the bottom.

I like the big airplane jigs with a strip of sucker meat. We had good luck on Paugus and behind Merrils place with the red and white and green and white colors. They really liked the slow just barely moving jig motions. They seemed to be fascinated by the camera, they were coming in and staring at it and bumping it with their mouths.  We were able to watch their reactions to the jigs and adjust the presentation. It was so cool to see them come gliding in and inhale the jigs !!  Hey Zorro, do you want to hook up and chase some cusk this winter, I found a new way onto Paugus ?

Yep going after cusks but at Ellacoya its close to my house.

I jig for cusk using a glow in the dark white bucktail with red and white hair. One of my favorite cusk jigs. Tipped with either red fin shiner, smelt or sucker meat.
I also use a perch color bucktail. All my bucktails are 1oz.

Bounce bottom gently.

Hey Jiggin, how goes it ? I'm meeting DD tomorrow to pick up some of his custom jigs he made for me, in exchange for some extra Polars I have. He ties some sharp looking jigs ! I really like his custom jig design spec sheet, he'll tie the jigs just the way you want them. He's made some 3/4 oz red and white glow painted jigs for me, can't wait to see em ! We're gonna concentrate on night prowlin for Cusk this year ! The worst part is waiting for the frikken ice !

I've never tried bucktail jigs for eelpout, guess I'll have to keep an open mind.  



I think I'll have to toss these feathered JigNRaps at them first.
