Forever hopeful for a better season than the last.. The guy at Stuwarts in Rocky hill tweaked the carb on the Strikenaster last year and I'm jonesing to shred some ice. The Nils is nice bit I want some serious ice for a change.

Fingers crossed with you! After last season, I’d honestly be happy with one day out there. Good luck trying out your new gear.

Looks like a repeat of last ice season, or lack thereof

Yea. I'm not waiting for the ice this year. I'm going up to Maine end of January. Trying to get my first landlocked salmon!!

My pond skimmed over Tuesday night, held up yesterday and looks like an actual sheet formed last night.  I'll have to go poke a hole in it this afternoon to see how much there is.

Although more high 50s and rain coming in this weekend, so it's all for naught down here right now.

I'm trying to dupe the weather gods by vowing to continue to hunt ducks through January. Maybe they'll try to freeze me out, I can then admit defeat and go icefishing.

Yes same hear, I fished the week of Xmas then it was in the 60’s and a lot of rain. At least we had the little window but looks like the remaining of December is mild for the foreseeable
Future. Hopefully January will be a different story, but I’m ok with traveling north out of state and do some exploring.

Bantam had skim all around the launch this morning.  I may go smash it in a couple hours and make some casts for pike.  I dont mind lack of ice.  Open launches and a good bite with no boats is sweeeet.

I think some of us forget it isnt even winter yet.

That’s a very risky question to ask, I’d recommend checking it personally with another friend & the proper safety gear.

My giess is that there will be some safe ice at Bamtam.  I doubt the while lake will be safe, but with this week, it is possible.  Check as you go because you never know until you check.
If you can't play nice, get off the ice!

13 degrees here in South Windsor this morning.  I'm going to go spud my pond to see how much ice is there.  There was about 3/4" before the snow.  The snow and ice yesterday brought a bunch of water over the top which is now all frozen so I'm thinking there might be an inch of black and maybe another inch of crap on top...

Bantam has ice.  Lots of skim as of this morning with steam making its way through the thin ice.  My bet is there will be guys on it this weekend.

Thank you kind sir

Berks for sure should be well iced and fishable. Buddy of mine said they been fishing up there

Not as good as I was hoping, but should still be good for hockey this weekend!

C’mon, Jon. Save it for the DMs. Thousands of lurkers looking at this.

Stay safe out there, people. Use a spud bar and wear ice picks. We could be looking at a four-day ice season in CT with another torch coming next week.
