There is a company, gxproxy, that sell geocaching supplies.  They have uv lights for under 10 bucks and uv pens too.  I have used the light alot this summer and still have the original 3 aaa batteries in it.  The uv pen is invisible until you shine the uv light on it.  I used it to mark all my guns and rods and reels.  Even marked my kayaks too.  If ever stolen it helps the police identify the item, if they grind off the ser number.

Note on UV lights. They are not all the same.  The ultraviolet band extends from 400 nanometers (just below purple in the visible) all the way down to 190 nanometers.  The lower the number the more energetic the photons are.  Spend the extra money and get a 365nm LED rather than a 395-400nm one.  It won't look as intense to your eye, but that's because your eyes can't see UV light, but they can be damaged by it.  Don't look into the beam. The more energetic 365nm photons will do a much better job charging up the phosphorescent paint on your jigs!

OK... It sounds like you may have some background in this. ;D

Can you direct us to a light that uses 365nm photons that could be used to charge jigs?

I guess these lights must be potent... Google says many are used for water purification! :o

Is this what you are talking about?

Will this really make a big difference?

A little research shows at least a dozen more practical uses for this light too...

Most interesting...

Detection of body fluids in hotel rooms  and counterfeit money detection!

I'm glad you all found the information helpful.  I'm a retired analytical chemist, UV spectroscopy is a basic tool of the trade.  Go to Amazon.com and search for UV LED flashlight.  The one you need is about halfway down the first page. It's about $30 US.

I bought the Amazon one for $30.  I imagine the price varies with intensity (lumens) as well as the LED source.  Like they say----size matters.  Good luck with your choice.

I just ordered the $30 light from the above link to Amazon. Free shipping and stuff, why not. Like I said before, it has many other practical uses too!

I'd like to see a side by side test with a 395 and a 365 charge for the same time and see what if any difference there is from the initial brightness to how long it lasts. Who's gonna do it and post back??????

I'm planning on taking a few side by side no flash photos with this light, my lure lightning, and a standard LED flashlight for control. I don't know the intensity of the Lure Lightning.

They have a bunch of different models http://www.scorpionmaster.com/led-ultraviolet-flashlights

Mine is really solid to boot.

Little known fact or well kept secret.....iPhone flashlight charges jigs very well and one less thing to bring out other than a portable charger if it is your lure charger, flashlight, music or movies provider, GPS, and the odd time actually gets used as a phone like mine does lol.   ;D

I'd rather drop a 5 or 10 dollar flashlight down the hole than my phone.
