I just did a drive by, looks to be a bit of snow/slush cover on top so shouldnt be as slick as last week but I would still bring your cleats. Spud your way out let us know how you do.

NO LUCK...but at least the ice kept its thickness. Fished 50 fow for 3.5 hours with nothing to show for it. The flasher was lit up like a Christmas tree for the last hour and a half with bait fish. Marked a couple nice ones off bottom but they seemed quite lazy or they just weren't interested because of all the other bait in the water column. Maybe next time.

I have been out for a couple quick sessions and haven't marked a fish or bait at all so nice to know there is still life.

SUCCESS!!! Got out to lobo again this morning to try and get my first one of 2016. I set up in 101 fow and started marking fish immediately. After 30 mins i had already lost my first fish after a 5 second fight followed by another hook up about 30 mins later. Wasn't a big fish and it was early so back down the hole it goes. After marking 20-30 more fish and to the point when i was about to call it a day...this 4lb laker shot off bottom and smashed my tube. What a great morning on the ice.

nice job!
Update:
Me and TheDL went out from 3:30-5:30 tonight but got nothing, Dave marked a couple but that's it. Furthest we got out was 64fow, ice was still a decent thickness, 4 1/4", but it was SOFT so we didn't press our luck considering the walk back was going to be in the dark.

Hey Guys I have been out of town most of this week, finally got back and checked out Loughborough this morning and surprised to see it was still fully ice covered.  The ice looked pretty punky, like what you get just before break up but its still there.  I wont be on it this weekend but the forecast looks good, a few more cold nights and we might be back in business.

About a half dozen people on Lobo this morning hope it gained some ice overnight because it didn't look good on Friday. Hopefully one of the crazies is a board member so we can get an accurate ice report.

I was one of those crazies.  3.5 in of black ice where I was (SW end of the lake, no more than 500m from boat launch), and it seemed fairly consistent.  No fish though...

cool thanks for the update, I knew there wasnt much out there. Shouldnt have to worry too much after this weekend its going to be -20 to -25.
The ones I was really calling crazy were set up about a km from the launch on the other side of the creek mouth where there was open water.  They must of gone out from a cottage or something because I cant imagine they would see the open water and decide to walk around it.

So glad we finally had a few days of solid cold. Anybody know the thickness on Loughborough now..... after the last few days of deep freeze? I live about a 40min drive from there and would like to head out soon if I can. Thanks.

Hey kingstonK I havent been out myself, actually havent fished at all in the last week- 10 days its killing me!  But I have seen a number of people on Lobo at all depths.  Doesnt mean its safe but people have been out deep and lived to tell about it.  The bigger issue will be trudging through the snow, better chance of dying from a heartattack than going through the ice.

Just wondering how much ice was out there last weekend, and if it would still be safe to get out this weekend?

Back lakes had foot and a half or so of ice last weekend.

I went by today and saw one perswon way out there.  don`t know how much ice was there but it was starting to open up along the shore.  Years ago  (i`m an old guy) we used to call it plank fishing time... we had to use a plank to get out on the ice from shore.   Must have been young and foolish.
Cheers crappie time is comming.

Last report I had from a reliable source was early in the week before the really warm days and rain and there was 10" As sig said there was one guy out there today, actually sitting pretty close to the open water the creek created.  Not sure if he went out from the launch or from a cottage. Stay safe
