Front door mat
« on: Jan 06, 2015, 10:10 AM »
Just a tip for your shack.  Years ago I bought a cheap thin black rubber front door welcome mat.  Cut a hole in it 6" from the end the size of my auger.  When I set up I lay the mat over my hole with long end away from me.  Makes a nice skid proof, dry place to sit my finder or camera.  I tight line 90% of the time with white or yellow main line.  The black mat around the hole makes a nice contrast to the ice so I can see my line better.  When I'm done fishing I just pick the mat up, shake the ice and snow off of it and lay it in the bottom of my shack.  Works great.  SGM

Thats a good idea!! We are all getting old, you have to start thinking things differently.
10% of the fisherman catch 90% of the fish .....im a 10% are you?

ooh...very nice, you could also get a longer one to put your feet on so they stay warmer.  I've noticed if my feet are not on the ice they stay a lot warmer.

I've used carpet door mats for years, but a few times they froze to the ice, switched to all rubber, never had anymore problems
The Greenhornet's caught more fish then you've lied about, Gustafson!

I use 2 rubber mats, the ones that have holes in them. Look like a honey comb.  Keep my heater on one and flasher on the other. No snow build up at all and it keeps stuff off the snow.

The fairly inexpensive anti fatigue mats work great too!
I call them puzzle mats!
Clip a couple together with a hole near the center and keep your feet on one side and your electronics on he other.
Very light and easy to clean fish slime and blood off of!
Take your kids hunting and fishing!
