There’s not the smelt there used to be in Magog, but it’s still decent smelt there.
Salem not sure what happened there. I heard that pike got into there and that’s why the smelt population has depleted.
Same as Waterbury reservoir.
But could just be talk.

Had a smelt surprise attack on Champlain Thursday.  Wouldn't have thought it was smelt until I snagged one on a jigging spoon...not far from where all the smelting went on back in the day. 

Re-reading your first sentence, is there smelt in magog or no?  I've been thinking about taking the long ride to check it out.

Yes lots of smelt in Magog season for trout starts 3rd Sat in Jan.
