There are some good ones here in NY......Great Sacandaga, of course, home of the North American Record of 46 lbs. and change...Champlain and Delta also produce big ones, as does Black Lake. But around my area, there are only a few places that hold pike... :-\ Most are rivers....and the lakes are private! Can't have everything though... :'(

Some guy in Canada caught a pike this year that was 70 inches long. It fed his family of 7 for a week. The picture is on myfishfinder.com. Check it out it's a monster. Great fish though especially through the ice.

Yea it was a fun day, and one heck of a time cleanin them buggers!!! de Y-boning them was the easyest part. It made for a great batch of herrings. Now all I need is another bunch like that and they'll be fried up for breakfast.  Just love the taste of fish and pancake flour fried lightlly brown. yummmmmmmmm ohhh just that taste in my mouth is making me hungry talking about it.  Damn Gotta get some more..

Caught in Wisconsin.  I eat em as fast as I catch em!!!! Most cases as soon as I clean em, I eat em up.  Northern are good eating fish as long as you know how to get all the bones out that's the secret to good northerns.

I'm struggling to believe that 55lbs is the world record.  I signed up just to show you this picture of a Northern Pike my dad caught during a fishing trip in the late 70's.  This pike weighed in at 59lbs was 59 inches long and had a belly over 11inches deep, reason I say this is because the 11" fillet kniife they used couldn't reach all the way through.  I only have one pic and unfortunately it doesn't show the whole fish.  My Dad is emailing me more showing the entire fish.  I'm sure most of you will call bullnuts but whatever,  i think once you see the other pics showing the whole fish you may think twice.

(Image removed from quote.)
There is no way that pike was 59lbs, or even 69 as it was saved as. Your lucky if that pike is pushing 30 pounds, unless you stuffed an anchor down its throat, or your using the metric system.

That's a big pike, not even 30 pounds though. I'm saying 47" and 28 pounds, maybe...
Zach, Pike don't get that big in Black Lake, 13 pounds is it, George has bigger ones, up to and over 4 feet. :o

Thats so big because in Krautville they have some messed up mutations that make pike huge! But still, imagine the taxidermist bill for that puppy

Okay, I'm sorry for my ignorance. I stand corrected ;D

My cuz caught one 38 1/4 inches and it weighed 23 lbs.  It had a 24 in girth.  Fattest pig pike I've ever seen.  The lake has an incredibly high ciscoe population, and that thing was incredible.

That would have to be a very fat pike to be 38.25" and weigh 23lbs.

Here is a chart for you. A 38" pike should weigh around 15.7 lbs and a 39" pike will be around 16.9 lbs.

I caught a 31" pike this summer that went 7.5 lbs.

NORTHERN
length   weight
24 in   3.9 lbs
25 in   4.4 lbs
26 in   5.0 lbs
27 in   5.6 lbs
28 in   6.2 lbs
29 in   7.0 lbs
30 in   7.7 lbs
31 in   8.5 lbs
32 in   9.3 lbs
33 in   10.2 lbs
34 in   11.2 lbs
35 in   12.2 lbs
36 in   13.3 lbs
37 in   14.5 lbs
38 in   15.7 lbs
39 in   16.9 lbs
40 in   18.3 lbs
41 in   19.6 lbs
42 in   21.2 lbs

I have been fishing Pike for a long time. I don't mean to stir the pot but this kid said the other day that some paper had a picture of a 50lb. Pike. I just wanted to see it!
But as I read into his posts and saw the picture of the so called 59lb. Northern... Then I looked at the New World Record,,,That new one could fit that other 59lb. in it's mouth. I'm not trying to be mean,,,but no way is that fish 59lbs. The guy could hardly hold on to that HUGE 55lb. fish it's belly was so big.
