Ice Fishing in the metro
« on: Dec 06, 2017, 02:55 PM »
Hey everyone- Just bought all new gear for the season and wondering where people fish in the metro? I live in south Minneapolis and was thinking of trying Lake Nokomis. Anyone fish this lake ? I have a hub style so, i'm portable. One last thing, any good bait shops by Minneapolis?

Thanks!

Nokomis is ok.
Easy access, but few decent fish.
I just moved from NY last year, and fished on Nokomis about 6 times. Never caught a 'keeper'. Biggest crappies have been 8 inches, biggest perch: 7 inches, and no walleye.
There's a bait shop about a mile west in an Ace Hardware Store. They're pretty helpful. They have a bit of tackle in there, too.

I live south of 494/the river so I mainly fish down there or west metro. From where you are you could also head east. Few lakes over there.

If I still lived in the metro area, I'd fish Minnetonka, Long Lake, or Independence.
