              Good morning ER's,
It's 36* and cloudy here on my hill. ::)
Bud............A perfect day to take a stroll in the woods, the deer won't hear you coming.
H2l............What is the latest you've seen the GSL freeze? ??? My friend Jon said that there is ice on one lake above Schroon Lake with ice.
Wally..........I walked out on my grass and its too soggy to even think about mowing if the grass was too tall. :cookoo:
Eddie.........That must have been funny to see a Great Dane running out and back. :roflmao:
                         Dave..........Nice looking Christmas dinner. :flex:
Steve.........Maybe they're getting ready to do some digging.
KB.............Thanks for the picture, the raccoon must have thought he was at a porn movie. :roflmao:
Fish...........Now you are really making me jealous, that ice looks great. Maybe you can rent your camper out to some of us for a week.
This grey weather is getting monotonous, even the solar batteries on my weather station has lost their charge for the lack of sun.
I hope everyone has a good Saturday either at work or out. Stay safe and Healthy.

33* and cloudy.

IW, NO ice at all this time of year is rare. There is usually some bays that freeze up by now. There isn't even skim ice. Yesterday when watching the noon news on CH 6 they showed the Lake Geroge camera and there was a small boat going across the lake.

WW, I almost expect to see someone out there every time I go that way. There sure is enough water to launch but would have to get your feet wet, the dock isn't in.

Eddie, I don't see anyone doing anything with their docks, now would be the time to at least pull the cables in so when the water does go down. Many just leave them where they are in the fall thinking they will be above the water line when the lake freezes over.

Hope everyone has a good day and be well...h2l

Morning, all. Frosty and 29f this morning, expecting highs mid 30s lows upper 20s for the foreseeable future. Lots of warm sunny days last week, and no ice to be seen. But water levels look good, hopefully keep the water table up and help us crawl out of the drought conditions we've been flirting with the last few years.  Saw people with boats out last weekend on a couple bodies of water around the metro. Unreal.

3 day weekend again, for a short week last week it still felt so long. Went to bed at 8 last night and still feel like I stayed up too late.

No plans, just gonna mess around. Might see if I can find any post-Christmas sales for some fishing gear. Mother shipped me some good Virginia country ham for Christmas (that's the biggest thing I miss), and we got a bread maker for Christmas, so I imagine we'll be doing a lot of cooking and eating this weekend  😁

Happy new years to y'all
A bad day of fishing is still better than a good day at work.

Camper is set but I figured it would be way too far of a drive for most, looks like some ice making weather moving across the US so it might not be too long amd we all will have ice. Might be another short year for the ice fishing. We'll getting ready for the swim meet. Have a great Saturday everyone.

Good morning ER’s. 27 and yes it does feel like 18 out.  Full sun should get up to mid 40’s and chase away the frost. Dropped off a couple chains to have sharpened , but think I have another issue with the big chain saw, took cover off to clean the dust out now doesn’t want to reseat properly  :cookoo: :cookoo: :cookoo: will have to see if I bought a wrong size chain I was trying to use    might know I left the original chain at the farm. May have to be using the smaller saw while here. Lol always something

Pat if I do any poking around the woods it will be to thin out the squirrels, Jake would like that I’m sure

Take care all

Good evening, may everyone be having a good weekend. Another recall for your knowledge will include information at end of this post.

Ice wanderer i was out earlier today and took a look at one of the flags they say caution buried gas line. So I assume you are correct and will see excavation work at a future date. I've seen some posts about people ice fishing in the Adirondacks. Everyone tight lipped on location guessing smaller bodies of water located in the 'High Peaks" area . may you have another way to power your weather station if the gloomy weather continues and there is not enough hours of sunlight to charge the solar batteries.
Wallyworld thank you for answering my question .may your grandson be able to play ice hockey for several years and any injuries sustained always be minor.
Hunts2long it must have been strange seeing the boat crossing Lake George given the time of year. I assume many people remove their docks when closing their second/vacation homes for the year and will not be back until some time in the spring. So if they do not have someone watching their property will not know of the problem until they return and their dock is missing.
Splattypus enjoy the ham and have fun with the bread maker.
Fish/hunt4ever may it have been a good day for your children and their team/teams at the swim meet. May all of you enjoy the rest of your vacation and the school Holiday break/Winter recess. hopefully you can locate and catch some good sized walleyes or trout.
IFF have you checked to see that the dust filter is seated correctly on the chainsaw. IF you purchased the wrong size chain may your smaller saw be able to handle the wood processing until you can purchase a new chain.

Here is the recall Dianne's fine Desserts- Sienna Bakery chocolate decadent brownies distributed by Gordon Food service lot code : 23243 product is mislabeled and does not say that ingredients include peanuts.

May everyone have good New Years celebration be careful if any fireworks are part of the festivities. Remember to consume the adult beverages in moderation.

               Good morning ER's,
It's 21* and mostly cloudy here on my hill. ::)
Steve.............My weather station got enough light yesterday to charge the batteries for now, it is showing all the readings from outside.
Fish...............I know it's a long drive, but that's how I got the name Ice Wanderer. :roflmao: But I will admit it's a little too far for me.
Wally.............You and Mr. WW should have kept both boats , just for conditions like this.
H2l................In years that Lake George didn't freeze it wasn't uncommon to see some guys out fishing from boats, my sons and I included. :woot:
Eddie.............My former wife's dog wouldn't go out in the rain unless I took him out under an umbrella. :cookoo: He stayed dry while I got wet. :%$#!:
Bud...............I took a chain to get a new on a Stihl and they didn't make it up then, I had to give them the Model # and they went back to a shelf
to get the right box. I also had to tell them the bar length. :cookoo:
Splatty...........I hope your weather cooperates and you get some ice.
Marv..............I hope the tree shopping went well.
Today I'm going to make a Turkey soup and putter in the basement.
I hope everyone has a good Sunday either at work or out. Stay Safe and Healthy.

28* and cloudy.

Mr.C, what many of the newer Summer people do is to just let the water go down in the Fall and the dock is left setting on the beach. Normal years that works for them, but when we get a lot of rain, like this year, in the Fall the docks end up floating again. Then is becomes a problem. Most "learn" in a year or two that to be safe, move them above high water mark.

IW, I am sort of surprised I haven't seen any one on the lake. Could be all the rain or maybe the Holidays! When I saw the boat on LG, I thought of you.

The new HP arrived yesterday and is up and running. Have gotten the basics set up on it. Getting "great" speeds on it but I don't type any faster.

Hope everyone enjoys their New Years Eve Day! Lindsay is coming this morning for breakfast and dropping Rocky off.

Have a good day and be well....h2l

Morning all,

Happy New Year's Eve  Can't believe another year is about to begin  :o

H2L.....congrats on the new computer, hope you get MANY years of use with it

IW....you're right, there have been many times we've kicked ourselves for selling the old boat  :%$#!:

Eddie......it's been a LONG time since I've seen midnight on NYE  ;D  enjoy the family time today

IFF.....squirrel with bisquits and gravy used to be a common supper when I was a kid  ;)

Woke to a dusting of snow this morning, plow/sander was through earlier  :-\  saw on the news we're almost 2' short of the average snowfall for this time of year  :cookoo: if all the rain had been snow I'm sure we would be over the average

Good morning everyone

28 degrees only going to gain a couple more for the day. We had about an inch of snow last night, just enough that I needed to get the leaf blower out.

IW...The trip to the jungle went fine. The s-i-l is going to keep the tree planting pretty diverse as to varieties. She likes a Acer rubrum (Autumn Radiance). She also may plant a couple Canaan fir trees. She is at the age where if she wants to enjoy them, she has to start thinking about growth rates.

Eddie...Lots of chatter regarding all the rescues on Red Lake this year :cookoo:

WW...Congratulations on the big win yesterday with the Iceshanty giveaway

I hope everyone has a good evening. I also will be in the camp of missing the big ball drop or as they are doing here in St. Paul, at one of the oldest bars,...The 17 foot di. "Big Bobber Drop".

Stay safe and keep healthy

Good morning ER’s. 32 with 15out of the north might get up to 40.  Plan on dropping a popular tree by the driveway in, that died and looks like it could take out the incoming electrical line if it were to fall that way.

Guess even in OG’s area ice isn’t what it has been this time of year.

Got the chain on the 24’ saw and only way to be able to use it was to take the chain break spring out so the band would allow the chain cover to fit back on.  So will have to be mindful that safety feature is disabled.  And see if I can order a replacement assembly or have it fixed

WW my last squirrels didn’t turn out to my liking turned out like leather

Well here to the new year

Well we actually made it to the lake last night set up shallow, had 2 flags last night with nothing on them. Got a few set this morning out deeper where some people coming off the ice last night said they caught a couple perch and a walleye. Eating breakfast and drinking coffee waiting for most to rise, need to grab the shotgun and chase some pheasants here on the last day of the season. Glad everyone is doing good on this last day of the year, may the new year start out fantastic for everyone. Here is the view as I watch for flags.

Good evening ,Happy New Year best wished for everyone in 2024 .I maybe up but will not watch any of the celebrations. Another cloudy day here with a high temperature in the low forties.
ice Wanderer good to read your solar batteries received enough sun light to recharge and power your weather station.
Hunts2long may the new computer serve your needs for many years. Thank you for the information on people and their docks at GSL .
Old Goat may things be good with you and your mom be in good health.
Wallyworld if you still had your old boat it is one more thing to maintain and store in the off season.
Eddie may the family celebration be a good time for everyone.
Whopper Stopper did your S-I-L give any thought to purchasing oak saplings to replace the trees removed. I know in time oaks will provide food and shelter for the area wildlife. thank you for the "Big Bobber" photo learned something about New Year's celebrations across the United States.
IFF glad you were able to get the chain onto the saw be careful using it now that the chain brake safety feature has been disabled.
Fish/hunt4ever may you and the family have been able to harvest some fish and pheasants today.
Icefisher-45 may you recover quickly from the Covid and your wife avoid getting infected.
Kb the same wished for you and your family.

Enjoy any late evening New year's celebrations have a nice day tomorrow. Best to all fishing and hunting.

             Happy New Year ER's,
It's 19* and partly cloudy here on my hill. ::)
Eddie...........There is nothing like the smell of making Turkey soup, I got 7 quarts of a heart style soup. :flex:
Wally............Somet imes we regret selling some things, but I'm sure the new boat is nice to be on out on the big lakes.
Marv.............A friend sent me the article about the people stranded on Red Lake, it happens a lot on Lake Erie and Lake Champlain.
H2l...............Funn y thing about new things, they might work better but we're still the same. :roflmao: Enjoy the new computer.
Steve............One thing about solar batteries they don't need the sun to actually charge, it's the rays that penetrate through the clouds that
charge the batteries. Of course the sun is a better and faster way to charge them. ;D
Bud...............Be careful with that saw.
Fish...............Don't the Perch school up out there? Here when fishing Perch once you get into them it's non stop catching until the byte shuts
down. We have a 50 Perch limit here and we can do that in a couple of hours :woot:
I-45..............Sorry to hear about the Covid, Take care.
I didn't stay up to see the ball drop, I stayed up and watched the Packers beat the Vikings.

Good morning Jeff, well I certainly plan on extra caution if using that or any saw. I should have have my daughter make me up a t-shirt that reads “I survived 2023, and so far all the call us Medicare TV ads”.  Will be heading to the auto shop tomorrow, check engine light popped on, and see what its code is for.

When I got up this morning I stood on my left foot for a while, so does that mean that I will start out on my right foot ???

Coffee is hot and ready best to all

I believe the wife stayed up to watch the ball drop, I went to bed at 10:30.

Not much planned for today, hoping to see a "GOOD" college game, hasn't been many this bowl season.

Eddie.....hope everyone enjoyed the family get together

Good Morning Everyone,
Welcome to 2024…Happy New Year!!   Cloudy and 28*, high of 34 forecasted for Day 1 here.

Jeff…very nice job on the soup, that would surely make for a nice meal out on the ice!   Not seeing much in the forecast for good ice weather here yet, but your area might start seeing some with the colder temperatures soon.
Bud…the way I see it nowadays, is if you’re able to stand up when you wake… you’re off to a good start!  ;D
Hope everything checks out ok with the truck today.
Steve…I missed the ball dropping again also last evening. Understand minimum wage went up to $16/hr downstate and $15/hr upstate here in NY when it hit the ground though!  :woot:
H2…enjoy the games today as well as that turkey dinner!
I-45…best wishes/thoughts and prayers with you getting over the Covid, hope the symptoms stay on the mild side.
Wally…we had a very small gathering yesterday but it was nice…and fairly quiet!  ;D

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year and a safe upcoming ice season!

Glad everyone had a good new years night, hope this year is starting out great for everyone. We caught one walleye and that was the only flag we had, wish the blue typz would have been sounding off more. The neighbor that set up last night caught one walleye and one Ling for them. Been slow for most out fishing lots of fish moving around just not many biting. The neighbors fished another spot on the lake and had a ton of flags with one Ling caught. Have a great start to the new year everyone.

I tried puttering in the basement yesterday but there are too many distractions. I started cleaning my work bench and I find something that needs
attention and I do that and the time just gets away from me.
I have an appointment in Albany at the VA with the orthopedic doctor this morning.
I hope everyone has a good Tuesday either at work ort out. Stay Safe and Healthy.

22*and a heavy frost.

The turkey dinner was good, lots of leftovers so I have a pretty good idea of what on the menu this week.

IW, good luck at the VA this morning.

F/H4, nice looking walleye.

Have a good day and be well....h2l
