from time to time, but we were in a C&R only place, plus I'm the only one in the house to eat it, so I don't even mess with it most of the time.  ;D But, I'll keep a few crappies and trout come spring.  ;)

nice catch, you got 16 fillettes there.  heres how i cook mine up2 cups of flour, 1/2 package of old el paso tace seasoning mix, micx it up good, pour half into another bowl
take some beer, one egg, pour it into one bowl to make a wash, mix it up gooddip it in the wash, then roll it in the dry flour mixfry it up in some hot peanut oil drink the rest of the beer)mix 1 equal parts tartar sauce, ketchup, and alittle dab of fancy mustard for a dipping sauce, badda boom, badda bing, better than a 5 star chef could cook it
you dont need to salt, or season your fish.  its walleyesalyers patented recipe, try it, youll want seconds  ;D

yes they are  ;) and smelt are great bait for pike, all trout, even bass, there are some nice smallies in the lake too, but that is open water fishing.  8) if there is smelt in the waters, it's a hard life to being small.  always watching out for the bigger fish.  ;)
Here is another look at a not so lucky smelt,

this one went on a tipup and 2 feet under the ice in 16 FOW and I ended up getting a nice perch that came off at the hole, only had the head in it's mouth and no hooks.  Catching smelt is so easy, as long as there is a heavy school, I was trying for perch but they couldn't compete with the smelt.  :%$#!: I should have moved some but, they were one after another so I was fishing.  ;)2 And catching is what I was doing for about 3 hours straight. only could watch one  with the smelt.  Flag was up, up, up, up, bait flags. Needed my tipup with the drag, wingnut.  ;)2

IN Ol Crawdads Pictures there are 4 bluegills and 3 pumpkinseeds

the big gill (bottom Left) is a real nice one  may be a hyrbrid (cross bluegill with pumpkinseed i believe)

and what is a redear?  i guess they dont reproduce as much, they grow bigger. theyre stocked specifically for that reason.  i ppl always think im talking about shellcrackers i dont know, so cofusing.  looking up pics does no good.  people seem to contradict themselves all the time

that, adipose, is a "salmo chubby darter."  as far as it being convincing......i would say yes. the jury is still out on its fish catching ability, as it is new, and I didnt get much of a chance to employ it.  i can attest to its "search lure" attributes, it attracted a few walleye that i was able to see with the naked eye.  unfortunately, i didnt have a clear leader, and it was daytime, further decreasing the tendency for said fish to bite it.  i do plan on using it in the future, my confidence in the lure is quite good.  and as you know, confidence is everything in ice fishing thankyou
