well i havent updated in a while. lots of under 30 in pike and bluegills. ill update at the end of the season with all of em. we hit some new water, and went lake trout fishing for the first time today. had the whole lake to ourselfs which was awesome. kept 3 lakers, the few others were just shy of legal

thing was i have been reading up on fishing for em, and we were throwing spoons, pimples, everything we thought would work and kept getting sniffed.so not sure if it was trout or not, andy decided to throw on a small glow caty jig and some spikes, and 2 minutes later bam. so we caught everything on glow catys, glow forage minnows, and spikes( except the pike which was on a tip up, and we lost 3 others).so next time we will try this approach for the whole day, not just the hour and a half we did

we wanted to use smelt, but were not sure if there in there.....never marked any. i guess ill know better after the autopsy

attempted to go lake trout fishing again today.....lots of laker lookers but no laker takers

and except for 3 pike i lost(if that counts) i got skunked on the ice for the first time since whitney point last year.. oh well it was a buetifull day and my jigs needed washing anyway....andy had some luck though

jigged up this whitefish 10 min into the day. the pic isnt the best, but this fish had an overbite so it wasent a cisco. according to the dec contor map there here

. first one we have ever seen

and we had some traps set up for lakers...1 miss and this salmon

hit in 70 fow, 55 feet down...i thought that was odd too

nice end to a nice day

out for eyes tommorow and monday

i changed the post.your probably right ....i have no idea. looking at the tail when it was laying on the snow it looked like a rainbow to me. never iced a landlocked or a rainbow so i have no clue. went back down the hole anyway, both are out of season

let me know when and where ya want to fish dave, that lake is only 88 miles from my doorstep in oswego. there were a bunch of people out there today, and i only saw 1 10 inch laker landed....lots of lookers though. bunch of guys left at around noon.....i dont think they had any sonar. its one thing to sit there and actually see fish checking you out, its quite another to sit there and have no clue whats going on

i would have left too

i know andy is reading this...that lurker...post and tell em about the 1 laker that did take a floro ride for 5 min

Just let me know when where and time! I sat around pouting today and watching fishing. Took a ride to Neahatwanta..... yeah thats enough about my day. Got to spend time with the family though!
