Camofish's fishy trips
« on: Dec 22, 2004, 07:01 PM »
Well, I got out for the first time this year...5" of ice on Mayfield lake...First time on this lake too...Started out about 9am and ended up with 3 dinks by noon. :- ...I was watching this guy chase flags since he got on the ice so I went over to chat...He said that if I was going to stay I would pop a few holes over there, where, there...so I ended up staying for a few more hours in the freezing rain. :P.And low and behold flag, run, run, run...And ended up with this nice 12" perch.  ;D

I see a fish fry coming...then in about another 1/2 hour or so, the same flag flew high, and ended up with a 10" crappie this time.  ;D

And right before we picked up at 2p, we ended up with another 10" crappie.
"We're having fish tonight!"  ;D

I had to add in the stick I caught on my nice neon pink sounder, isn't it a beauty  ;)
All in all, I had a great and fun time out on the ice for the first time this year.
Flag! Fish on!

Those sticks are smart. I see I am now not the only one to have posted a pic of a monster stick I caught. Those sticks are really smart and it takes a true angler to catch one and a brave angler to post it up ;D
By the way camofish, that perch is a beauty :)
if anybody from michigan will help me out with the lakes and stuff up here I'd really appreciate it since I'm new to the area.

Got out this morning on fish creek, 4 1/2" of ice. from the reports it's been slow,  ;D don't know what that is about. Well, I fished from about 830a-1050a and was running flags at least every 10-15 min. Here is a pictures of a little LMB that tripped my tip up twice so, I dropped my jig pole down on him and he sucked it right in as it hit bottom.
First fish with jig pole with year.  ;D

Then another little bass.  ;)

Where are all the perch and crappie at ??? here is a little pike that gave me a nice hand run off the tip up.  ;)

Got a little dink perch and a few more little LMB. For the second time out, I had a blast. Here is another little bass on the last tip up as I was walking to the last one to pick up and flag, cool, 5 more steps.  :D

All fish back to grow.  ;D
Fish on!

to bad you didn't catch any keeper perch, oh well just think of it as practice for when we really get out there for some ice fun ;D

3rd trip with year, 2nd trip in 2 days to Toga. Got out there at 730a and fished till 4pm. After we got 6 flags in, they started to fly high. It took us another hour or so to get the last 4 in.  ;) This was my buddies 1st trip out on the ice in years, so I hooked him up with a great day of fishing. Here was the 1st LMB.  :D

And another  ;D

And another  ;) I was playing the camo guide for the day and letting my buddy run most of the flags.  ;D

I did find time to catch a few myself,   ;D here is a double perch on a double hook tipup.  ;)

Had another buddy show up with his son about noon. His son got broke off from a nice 3+ lber. So I let him try again and ended up with this fine green carp (LMB)

Here is a nice 3 lber, man he was all over the bass today.  ;D

Here is a little LMB camofish ended up with.  ;)

And a nice chain pickeral.  ;D

And even a nicer chain.  ;)

Man what  :o an awesome 3rd time out on the ice.  ;D
   Even had a triple flagger.  :P Which 1 to goto first.  ;)
Fish on!

the main differances between chains and pike are size, chain pickeral do not get as large as pike, color pattern, and chain pickeral's gill plates are completely covered with scales, an a pikes is only half covered.

heres a link to a good illustration http://www.mass.gov/dfwele/dfw/dfwpdf/dfw_esocidsposter.pdf
