Striker ice suit water proofing
« on: Mar 06, 2019, 07:35 PM »
Has anyone used camp dry or something like it on the jacket? Was gonna try it out because when it rains it gets damp fast. Wondering if itll be an issue? Has anyone sprayed theirs?

Camp dry worked great on my suit. I mainly treated the pants because I was getting damp knees when kneeling down.

I just bought a Hardwater this season.  That damn thing better be waterproof!  Are you guys saying that a $230 ice fishing jacket doesn't keep you dry in the rain?

My Climate suit is waterproof, just yesterday I fished during a 6-8 inch snow storm (wet snow) and stayed totally dry all day. I've used the shell of the jacket for fall striper fishing in the rain too.

No issues with my jacket or bibs getting soaked. The only time it gets soaked is while kneeling at the hole in a puddle of water.
Just add water.

Sorry for all the confusion i wouldnt say they are 100 percent water proof but water resistant.  Eventually over time that water proofing protection wears off. Was wondering if anyone has used an aftermarket spray to rejuvinte it if you will. I plan on doing so was just looking to see what people are using if anything.  Ill be using atsko extreme waterguard. Ill report results but might be a while. It has served me well in other applications.  Ill take a chance and give it a try.  It worked wonders on my smitty sled cover.

I use a product called Nik wax that I buy at eastern mountain sports.  It is by far the best waterproofing for clothing that have ever used. It comes in two versions that I have used, one is a spray and the  other is a 2 part that you wash the coat twice.  I have used it for years on my golf jackets and have always been happy.
