Northwood area
« on: Feb 12, 2024, 08:41 PM »
Hey all, new here but looking for some help finding a good pond/lake to ice fish in the Northwood area this weekend. Any reports of thickness and activity on the ponds in the area?

Looking to take my parents out this weekend, we like trout ponds but honestly are happy catching anything (or even just getting out there)!

Thanks!

How's the ice they all ask? "I’ll tell you what, you can get a good look at a t-bone by sticking your head up a bull’s butt, but I’d rather take the butcher’s word for it."

Can't help you w/ Northwood area ice, but the ice took a beating last weekend....pressure cracks opening up, some spots in the middle of lakes opening up, etc, etc.

So. A little cold to tighten things up + a dusting of snow on top will make it all look the same.....but it's *NOT* all the same.

Also, 1 cove of a lake might be fine.....next pond down the road might not be fine.  You might have to check a couple spots.

Bring a spud bar, check as you go, drill lots of holes + have fun!

He used the somewhat clever "parents" angle instead. C+
