Title: Presque Isle
Post by: pymybob on Nov 30, 2005, 07:34 PM: Anyone here fish it? If so, I would appreciate up-to-date ice updates for conditions. Its a 2 1/2 hour trip for me and I plan on hitting it alot this year. What a great fishery that is! Thanks in advance!

Post by: icefishnfool on Nov 30, 2005, 09:48 PM: I usually go up A FEW TIMES EACH YEAR ........I have had some 250 gill days up there in the bay by the monument ......never really got into the perch though.....basically every where in the park is good ......

Give it some time, the lake will have up to 2 feet of ice mid-season. Try off the 1st to 3rd parking lots when you enter P.I. Let me know when you plan to go up-I'll meet you there. I'm originally from Erie.

Post by: fhsww48 on Dec 01, 2005, 01:40 PM: Back a few decades ago I hit the bay often. Misery bay and Horseshoe pond were my favorite hangouts for crappie and gills. Did get into some jumbo perch a time or two close to the head of the bay (1st to 3rd parking lot). I am coming out of retirement this year and intend on doing Presque Isle plenty. Only 40 minute drive for me on a dry road.

Post by: Foxbow on Dec 01, 2005, 04:20 PM: I've fished up there just a couple times. Caught only a few perch and some gills. Would like to hear of crappie being caught there. Would like to fish for some jumbos too, but haven't a clue where to start. I didn't have a camera or vex before though. My good friend lives down in Meadville, so if I visit him, we would be able to go up. I'd like to get together too if other people are interested. About a 6 hour drive for me though :(, 30-40 from my friends. :)
