8- 10 lb flouro will work nicely real strong and the bass dont even know it is there.

I tie on a ballbearing swivel to my braided line then I use a 17 lb test flourocarbon about 3 ft long and use a circle hook. I also put a split shot sinker around 1 foot above the hook to keep the bait down around 1 foot off the bottom. If your not familiar with circle hooks then what you do is when you get a flag don't yank it to set the hook, circles set themselves just keep steady pressure on the line and pull it in.

Can't target bass with tipups here in NY, but when I've caught them, its been on a 6 foot leader of 6 lb mono, with a #12 or a #14 treble.

20 pound fireline
when chuck norris played golf for money, chuck marked down a hole in zero every time, the golf pro said, "chuck: you can't score zero on a hole." Chuck norris turned towards the man and said, "I'm chuck norris, the man proceeded to pour gas over his body and set himself on fire because that would be less painful than getting roundhouse kicked by chuck norris....chuck norris roundhouse kicked him in the face anyways

I use 36lb Dacron and slide on a 1/4 oz egg sinker (sliding) then tie on a ball bearing swivel. that sets depth. To the swivel I tie a 3 foot piece of 17-30 floor or mono then use a #6 Gamakatsu treble. The 3 foot determines the radius. I use a 1!8 oz rubbercore about six to twelve above the bait to slow the bait down.

I use six feet of 30 pound Spider Wire EZ Braid, which is the same diameter as 8 pound mono) and attach it with a barrel swivel to my Dacron.

How long  does the flouro and mono last?
I can't imagine they last longer then wire leaders :P I use wire leaders, and would make the switch to the mono or fluoro if they last.
Are you limited to how hard you can pull the line?

When I use to use Mono I would change it every year because it would get a memory and coil bad and loose it's strength.  The one time I didn't I got into the bass the first time out and every time I got them to the bottom of the hole it broke.  A hard lesson learned and one I never forgot.  A few years ago a friend of mine told me about the Spider Wire EZ Braid and I've been using that ever since.  It doesn't get a memory and keeps it's a lot stronger with small line diameters.

Just a question for those of you who use 6 - 10 lb fluoro. I like the idea of low vis but how often does a pickerel or something like it cut through that thin line?

If you let them inhale the bait, it could get cut off. If you hit them as soon as a pike or pickerel bites you will hook them on the gum line and not have nearly as many issues getting cut off.
