when people kill a monster with the excuse that they're getting it mounted it frustrates me to no end! replica mounts look just as good as skin mounts now adays and then there are more monsters swimmin around in the lake to be caught and reproduce! who doesn't like that? its a win win situation!

Most fish that r state record quality r way passed there prime of reproduction. There years r numbered I'd rather have it on my wall then finding it on the shore rotten.

I will not judge one for keeping a state record and their reasoning behind it.. but I ask if you do the same and not judge me.... I believe that old fish..deserve to die with dignity.. the same as all of god's creatures...if your beliefs of the value of an old fish are different than mine....I understand....but don't belittle my spiritual beliefs of letting the big ones go.....

Not for me.  If I could call an old bull in, feel the adrenaline of letting that arrow fly, go put my hands on him and get some pics and then turn him loose and go kill a fat young cow to eat I'd do it in a second.  Be able to hunt all through sept (which I did anyways this year  minus the laying my hand on him;) and keep going back and forth with other bulls sounds like heaven.  For me the process is the most fun and putting a big un back to see if I can catch her again when she is bigger would be the ultimate challenge.  I wouldn't begrudge you a bit if ya don't feel the same way, just some of us see this as a win/win.  Don't begrudge me for my opinion.

Pretty sure when a fish dies it's either at the bottom of the lake for the crawdads or they get washed up on shore. Just saying I'd rather have it on my wall. Your right. I haven't found any state record fish laying on shore, with that being said I have found a lot of trophy caliber fish died on the shore. On numerous bodyies of water. Some u can tell that were just old fish n some who knows what happened.

99% of the time I will let a big fish go.  For one they just don't taste good and two I like the idea of letting the big spawners, the ones that actually can spawn, go make more fish.  But if I catch a fish that is bigger than any other fish of that species that I personally have caught before and I decide I want to mount it then guess what, that fish is going home with me.  Everyone keeps preaching about the replica mounts and that's great if you want a fish on your wall that looks like you bought it at Wallmart, then go ahead that's your decision.  But to me replicas do not look REAL!  Put 10 mounts in front of me, in person not pictures, and I guarantee I can pick out the replicas.

This thread was never about imposing personal ethics on others.  It was highlighting the actions of a sportsman who did something entirely out of the ordinary that I thought was pretty cool and others on this site would enjoy.  It was you who went out of your way to call names and tell people what they should do.  Please keep your negative comments to yourself.
