I've been itching to get out on the ice.  How far of a drive is Georgetown from Helena? I just moved up here and haven't made a trip down that way yet.

if you're too busy to go fishing, you're too busy

Red Bridge has been mentioned a few times. I am unfamiliar with this particular location at Gtown or call it another name.  Would someone please clue me in as to where of its whereabouts.

The north end of P'burg bay has a sharp point of penninsula that forms the bay.  Red Bridge is directly across from that pointed penninsula.

Thanks.  I just didn't know how long it took time-wise with winter roads/etc. I'll probably be heading down that way Saturday.  Hope to see some of you out there.

Hey everybody,
I've heard there are a few springs in G-town that keep the ice pretty thin in some areas and I've heard stories of people falling through. Can anybody let me know where these spots are?

The one I certainly know of is on the west side of Dentons point.  There is a parking lot that is fenced in, on the west side of that is a little area folks also park in just outside the fence, in that area is a dry hydrant (large pvc pipe sticking up out of the ground)  I think about 100' north of that dry hydrant you will find my "swimming hole"  :o

Thanks for the info on the spring.  My girlfriend and I are heading up there for an afternoon/evening trip. Anybody know if the fishing is any good in the evening?  Sounds like mornings are the best.  We'll keep ya posted on how we do.

We fished Comers today, four of us and few fish on the ice. We tried a new part of the point, and I don't think it was for the best.

Ice was a good 9"

First time fishing Georgetown.  Got there at 6am and the fish were already biting. Fishing 20 fow and bait at 9 feet. Ended up with 28 kokes and 6 trout.

Fished Sunnyside Sunday morning.  The bite was on from the time I got there (6am) and didn't stop (left at noon). Fished 14 FOW, fish were 10 to 12. Nothing big and mostly trout.  1st trip of the year and one of my most productive at Gtown.

Brand new to the Missoula area, gonna fish Georgetown the day after Xmas... Can anyone give me a hint what kinds, size, & color jigs are good to use? Alternatively bait?

Also how busy does the lake get on the weekends or say the day after Xmas when more people have it off with their fams?
They catch the fish and then let it go. They don't want to eat the fish, they just want to make it late for something.

You should be able to access the lake report page, all the info you need is there. That lake is alway popular, always busy, but you will always catch fish. Let us know if you can't find the reports page
