Hey, I've never really used swedish pimples in the past, mostly sticking to teardrop lures. I thought that I'd give them a try this year. Can anyone tell me the best way to work these lures in the water? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I live in MA.I swear by them .I've caught anything from Pumpkinseed to Pike on them.I a jigging fanatic.I have different poles, line ,big and small pimples for all applications.The green and florecent orange colors seem to work the best for me.Also mousies or spikes on the hook works well.Mealie worms, pin heads.It's all good! Give it a shot.

Use the smallest swedish pimples in gold or silver with red, chartreuse, green, or glow for panfish. Bigger models are great spoons for trout, walleye, and pike. One of the best all around jigging spoons.

On the pimples, do you use the split reeng or go with a snap.
I swear my pork sauseege like feengers have a tough time getting that reeng on. I got it on, but it was a pain.
I figure line to the split reeng ok, but line right to the pimple is asking for problems.

Don't tie right to the pimple..I like the split ring, sometimes a thumbtack helps to spread the coils so you can pop it on.

for panfish do you like the red, yellow, or no flipper?

I start off with both, they break off eventually with a bit of use.

I've had more luck with the red flipper than I ever have with the yellow. I try each, on the slow days, and the red always comes through for perch, panfish, bass and pickerel. Try using half a minnow instead of the whole thing - that works well also (and makes the bait last).

Walmart sells a cheap split ring pliars. They are useful for changing treble hooks on lures etc. I also use them to remove hooks from fish if my needle nose pliars some how find their way to the bottom of the lake ::)

Me too, so much so that red is all I use anymore.

I had good luck using white swedish pimples with dead bait on them to catch lake trout.

I have fished those things for years, first perch out of the water donates an eye and then the fun starts!

Has anyone tried or had any luck with the Vingla? It's made by Bay de Noc same as the Swedish pimple. I bought a few at the Northeast Sports show a few weeks ago and haven't tried one yet......Wk :tipup:

Yep on the vingla, bigger sizes work better.
The pimle with a minnow is a proven killer. Lift drop and hold 100% deadly!

OK...but how big and for what? I have a few... and I can't remember the model number in gold and silver approx. 2" long. I tried them by themselves tipped with a minnow...I also tried them as an attractor with a dropper line and a smaller bait about 18" below with no success. This was on a natural, multi-specie lake near my home. I was marking fish on the Vex but they didn't want my offering. I took the Vingla off and went back to my old standbys and did well on Trout, Perch, and an occasional Bass. Was I doing something wrong or was it the Vingla? ??? ???...WK

Its not a cure all, just another weapon in the arsenal. Fish most of my spoons with droppers for pannies, for walleye and trout no dropper just the longer shank.
With spoons like the vingla ya gotta fish em aggressive so that they flash.
Pimple and narrower bodied spoons can be fish with more of a lift drop and the jiggle at either the raise or lower. The Vingla should really be almost ripped but not that fast gotta keep contact with the line and rod any slack and you will miss fish.
Experiment with different types of spoon/jigs and their action.
These are some time tested lures for me.
Pimple
northland spoons buck shot and regular.
Bad dog pin minnow and other varieties.
hali's
krocidle and any other style from acme
Just check em out notice the different bodies and how they will drop and lift in the water column.

Hey BUCKSKI thanks for the info. Maybe I just didn't give the Vingla enough time. I get impatient if what I have on isn't working. I have a small arsenal of Pimples, Halis, some Northland jigs and a good assortment from Custom Jigs and Spins. I'll try your methods this season and see what happens. Tight lines to you in the '06/'07 season......WK

Just remember the dropper lines/ chains :whistle:
Let me know what works for ya when it freezes over.
Comparing of notes helps greatly!
