keeping hook on Beaver Dams
« on: Nov 28, 2004, 11:20 PM »
At end of day when time to go home I usually have cold fingers so spool up line and leader til the treble hook catches in the bronze eye guide and store it that way but hard to do with freezing fingers. Was wondering if anybody tapes a sponge or styrofoam bead to end of board and just hooks the treble in there and reels the line up tight. Tired of sticking my cold fingers with the hook and open to any ideas.
Good thing about prisons- they reduce the potential number of fisherman on the ice!

First I always cut a small slot in the brass line holder so that I can remove the line and wrap it around the spool faster.  Then I glue a small cork to the bottom of the spool for the hook, use a good epoxy glue so that it holds.
