Great read, TY for sharing i have been googling this for 2 years now and i was almost excited when you said you would be writing this.. Ive it wouldnt be to much to ask, could ya put together a step by step with the Lazer blades, i think i have to completely wrong stones for doing it..
My 8" Mora Ice blades are proving very difficult to sharpen. They are curved so I can't get parts of the edge to lie flat on the stone. I don't know the solution.
The same way you would sharpen the curved part of a knife blade.. <°)))>{
It's curved in the opposite direction though forming a rainbow type arch.
Then you are trying to sharpen lazer blades, not mora blades... Reread this thread about trying to sharpen the lazers.. They are the *****s of augers blades to sharpen, <°)))>{
Gotcha. Looks like I'll be sending them off lol
A7X, my hunch is you're a woodworker also, I use pretty much the same techniques in sharpening my hand tools. Very nice article.
Has anybody tried sharpening the chipper blades for a power auger using this method yet?
Same theory applies... Just pretend the grooves aren't there...<°)))>{
Can anyone recommend a set of 3 stones that I could maybe flip on its side to use the narrow edge to sharpen my set of concave lazer blades?
See post #14 in this thread. .. I explain a few options for blades with a radius
A7x, not to stray off topic but can those electric fillet knife blades be sharpened? I just ordered new replacement 6 in. for my rapala electric knife but wondering if serrated blades can be sharpened.
Total waste of time! Just buy one of these:https://www.thorvie.com/product/av-41-ice-auger-blade-sharpener/
