I did get to do some cross-country skiing today.

This morning, after driving down to Pittsfield to pick up some new hip boots for my younger son, we headed to North Adams (40 degrees and cloudy) to christen them on both Hudson Brook (where we were skunked) and Fish Pond (where we caught about a dozen sunfish between us).

Then, after heading home to change and pick up my skiis, I headed out to the Savoy State Forest (35 degrees and sunny).

The temperature differential was slight, but it was just enough to support 3 to 4 inches of good snowball-packing snow on the shoulders of the trail (although the center of it was a bit muddy).

In any event, I managed to work in a good 45 minute loop out and back on my skiis.
