St Louis County Rescye Squad had an intro to ice rescue training at hoodoo point last week.
There is 2" of good solid ice. They found up to 4" out on pike bay.
As you can see, it takes quite a bit of effort to break through initially. Once the ice fatigues, they start dropping like flies.
