i will be fishing bare hill pond in harvard,ma by 12/20. I'll be fishing the ponds up/down the street from my house by 12/5.

The way the weather has been we'll be lucky to get out by mid January.
Bird season starts Saturday and the leaves are still green and on the trees!

Good to read that so many of the crew members here are checking the site so early. I look forward to seeing all the folks I met last season. First ice in SE Mass will hopefully be between christmas and New Years

PS Hey pointer - I hope you and your club are going to have the derby again this year...You guys and the BCI group do a good job holding derbies.

If we have ice on Whitehall there will be a derby.
There have been some years the ice was marginal at best and there was no derby.
That's happened 2-3 time in the 17 years I've been with the club.

Glad to hear you enjoyed yourself so much.

Went out with the dog Saturday morning and had 8 pheasant shot over her in no time flat.
This morning we took 3. She makes it look too easy....

Man I love this time of year.

I'm hoping to get out before x-mas! I just moved to Shrewsbury. Only a few miles down the road from Chauncey, I am hoping there might be a few readers who wouldn't mind showing me the area when the ice hits. Also, has anyone fished flint pond or Qunsig. My house is between the two, right on the water. Any tips on a good pike spot would be much appreciated. thanks

Bumps, never fished Flint but there are a few on this site that have. May be a little to soon for them to be signing on. Give it some time and your question should be answered.

Bristol County Icemasters - they run a big derby at Winnicunnet in Norton. Well organized to say the least.

Hey Bumps... Here is the Mass Wildlife link... go to the pond maps and find the one for Quinsig.

I've heard of some big pike coming out of Quinsig / Flint Pond!

Like I said in the e-mail, I believe that's when we have our annual game feed at the club and I've worked it for 15+ years. It's an all week prep and all day and night affair the day of the event.
I've never sat down and enjoyed the meal, I think it's too much fun in the kitchen.
Let's hope it's the following Saturday.
