Houghton lake in Roscommon county is loaded with northern pike is you'r heading a little north, but you'll catch about 10 20 inchers for every 1 keeper but it's still fun if you don't mind a big body of water with lots of traffic. I think tips with sucker minnows are the easiest way to catch pike in the winter and tip-ups are pretty inexpensive. I'd say about 75 percent of the lakes in Michigan have some pike in them. What part of Michigan do you live in? There are many lakes in Hillsdale county with Northern Pike. Baw Beese Lake is pretty good and occassionally produces a 10-15 pounder but is a high traffic lake.

yeah, i usually head up to houghton lake around new years for a nice vacation.  chasing those flags is fun, cuz they go off like crazy, but throwing those hammer handles back gets to be a little discouraging.

Hound, you have any luck this weekend?  Im also a hillsdale county local (well i grew up there, now live in Kzoo)
Yes, there really is a Kalamazoo!!

Baw Beese provides good pike action, along with a few in Hills region. You can also try Little Portage.

Marble Lake in Branch County offers some descent Pike.  A lot of hammer handles with an occasionaly 30" plus.  Most people focus around Tip-up Isaland where the channels come in.

Huron lake has Tigers in it.  Try Lakeville lake, Lake Orion, or Lake Sixteen (part of Orion Oaks park)

well i just so happen to live in holly and there are quite a few lakes to try its just not many i would rely on to put fish on the table.  Heron lake and wildwood lake in the holly rec area are prolly worth a try, never tried them myself but when i worked there a few years back i heard some stories, heron has tigers..and walleye!  just not very many.  Busch lake and Bevinns too small lakes right in town always guys out on those.

Hey Salmon what is this lake 16 ? where is it located? good for what species?
