18 Tonight and 24 tomorrow night.  Light winds.  According to Yahoo.  Fifty and rain, Monday.  Hope the ice holds.  Hope all had a great Thanksgiving.  It's been great here.  Our Son flew home from Nebraska.  Hadn't seen him since Mid-June.  Hope to be up next weekend.  Mike, you got a nice looking deer.

Dach,
I've been fishing near the channel by the smiley face for a couple of years.  Hopefully I'll make it up there soon.  If I do, I'll make sure to ask around or look some of you guys up.

Hey thats me str8781 . I live right across the street from that channel.  Hope to get out soon and try it. Still don't know about the ice, although it looks pretty gnarly out there. Drifts and piles of ice. Wind was blowin so hard and cold today when I walked down to lake I didn't stay long. LOL

Dach,
Maybe I'll have to grab a burger at the Spikehorn with you.  Nothing like warming up with a burger and fry.

Greetings all.
It was a tough year but it looks like it's all behind me. I was out of touch due to some health problems and I ended up losing over sixty pounds since last Feb. But that's in the past...I'm back and my wife seems to like the "new" me.
I have the gear out and will have fresh line on the reels this weekend. I'm charging the batteries on the flasher and I have to pick up some fuel bottles for the heater. Looking forward to getting together with you guys and maybe pull some fish through the ice. Dach and I had a great time on Higgins last year, maybe this year we'll actually catch something.
C'mon ice!!!

The channel had roughly 7" of ice as of this weekend. The fishing was really really slow with only a couple bait stealer perch being caught.

Hi guys,
I usually fish in Dach's territory.  A few years ago we hit the crappies really well, but everytime I've fished since then has been slower.  So, what do you guys do to catch Houghton fish consistently?  Or how do you fight through the hammer-handles to get to keeper fish?

This weekend, I hope.  Have a bit of a health problem in the family.  If all goes well there, I'll be there.

The consistency thing is my problem too str8781 , up one year down the next as far as the crappies go I have No idea YET.  The only way I found to get keeper Pike last yr was just kill lots of minnows and sort thru the Hammer Handles. LOL Good Luck and let me know when your coming up?

Dach,
I'm flying in from Texas on Sunday night.  I'm hoping to get my new fishfinder and equipment together on Monday, and with a little bit of luck my buddy and I might be up to the cottage on Tuesday or Wednesday.  I just need to get a few days in before the girlfriend catches up with me (she's flying in on Friday).  The week after Christmas my girlfriend and I usually go up fishing together.  So, hopefully sometime next week.
