Tourney HOW TO's
« on: Nov 11, 2004, 07:39 AM »

HOW TO: Post your entry
1 You must make a copy of Team Iceshanty 2005 card (I will issue the card 01-01-05 on the tourney board.).

2. Be ready , have your camera, TI card and tape measure handy so you can measure
and photo the fish quickly, specially if you plan on releasing it. Upon landing your fish,
lay fish straight as possible, lay measuring device parallel to the fish. Do the best you
can to line up the tape measure with the fish. Place the TI 2005 card near fish
(Use a rule with the largest numbers you can find.) Take the photo directly above fish ... not at an angle.
Take several photos to ensure at least one meets the criteria. Now take a photo
of yourself holding the fish. If you happen to be alone use your cameras timer feature or
find someone to take the picture for you. REMEMBER a photo with fish and measuring device also
a photo of you holding a fresh caught fish will be required.

3. Scan or download the pictures to the computer. Select the best two photos for entry,
(one photo with TI card and tape measure another photo of you holding the just caught fish) make sure the measuring tape and card can be read clearly.

4. Cameras set on high resolution will need to have the pictures re-sized
(SEE BELOW for RESIZE HOW TO). Max size allowed 800x600 pixels minimum size is 400x300.
Larger images will be allowed for extra large fish. Use your image editing program to crop and size
images down if needed. You should now have your images ready for uploading to the site.

5.Log on to Iceshanty.com and enter the tourney board. Select the proper posting area for
your fish species. Reply to the post. Type in the fishes length and any other info you wish to
share.
Near the bottom of the posting area is a browse button, you can select to upload two files,
Allowed file types: jpg, gif, png
click "Browse" to locate one of entry images you have saved on your pc's hard drive. Click
(more attachments) to add the other photo. Do not click "Preview", otherwise you will have to
re-select the image files from the hardrive all over again. Click "Post" the photos will begin to
upload, please be patient if using dial-up it will take ahwile to upload them. Wait for the
next page to load. Now check the post to make sure everything is correct if not click "modify"
and make the corrections.

IMAGE HELP

Open Microsoft's "Paint" or "Paintbrush" a program that comes with Windows has had the ability
to open and edit GIF and JPG/JPEG files. Anyone who is running Windows these days has a program
available to them for cropping digital images.

HOW TO: Resize Photos with MS Paint

1) Click your start button, then Click Run... and then type in pbrush and press enter.
If this launches Paint/Paintbrush then you're on your way to having a cropped photograph

2) Open your picture file

3) Next, go up to the Image menu, and select the Attributes... option.

4) In the Attributes dialog box, check the file width and height make sure "pixels" is checked,
remember these two numbers.

3) Next, go up to the Image menu, and select the Strech/Skew... option.  Adjust the percentage
accordingly to get the image size you want. For instance, if your file width and height are
1600 x 1200 pixels set the Stretch percentage to width 50% and height 50%.
Both height and width should be reset together so you don't get a distorted picture
This will re-size your image to 800 x 600 pixels. Allowed file types: jpg, gif, png. Save your file.
