Depends on the time of day. Early morning and dusk you will find walleyes move shallower  to feed. So i have found 20 feet and shallower. If your fishing a body of water where live minnows are allowed I like to fish all night with tipups. Don't be afraid to set a few in real shallow  water 4' or less, especially  along Rocky shores or dam faces. Hope this helps. Good luck!
