i for one have been practicing my cold water tolerance (fly fishing the farmington) and tying big ugly streamers for brown trout
been fun and cold cold cold!
what up the rest of you?? any takers for a fishing buddy on the river?
-
I have been pushing my dog pretty hard on long rough hikes getting him ready to pull the sled I built. I'm pretty sure the cold weather has been good for prepping me for the ice as well. All my tip up leaders were made a month ago. I ordered my lovely larvae last week and they just arrived in the mail yesterday. I have got my bait tanks ready to hold a season's worth of minnows. I have also been waiting impatiently.

Great job Low...how did you do last sunday? I only wish My vechile could be counted on and I would be going up north also but the friend I have in maine almost in canada said the ice up there that had 6" would be sketchy this weekend anyway!

Was hiking mountains from VT and NH but now it's just too cold to deal with. So basically my daily cycle has been school, work, shop online for new ice fishing toys, repeat.

Relined my tipups, put 8lb power pro ice line on my 6 bass poles and 6lb seagear flouro on my 5 trout rods. Relined my 4 jigging rods. Took all my leaders off everything and retied all new ones with beads and blades. Tied 20 trout and 20 bass leaders for back up. Set up my new Cabellas 5 sided 360 degree view at least 5 times. Charged my showdown duel beam and practiced off the dock with my new C-Fish 360* rotating underwater fish camera. Made mysely 8 new hole covers out of the camping mat from Wally World for $15.00 total. Just bought the wood and skis to build my Smitty sled and I should be finally ready. The way it looks here I may have to take a trip to Maine next weekend to get on some ice....being retired now the waiting is killing me!!!!

I'd be there with you but I've never fished the Farmington or any big river for that matter and don't know the good spots. I do love fly fishing though. I do a lot of small stream fishing
