The priciest jigging reel available ($99)?  It just dares ya to buy it-- I'm not there yet :D

I guess you have not run into my friend Tica Cetus...he'll go toe toe with that Shimano and leave you with more money in your pocket

Had a Cetus SB 500 for years; love it except for the chunky rotor...

I have 8 ticas and am getting more. The Shimanos are built better than the Ticas thats why I use them in open water. The Ticas are generally smaller than the shimanos and are less $$$, thats why I like them for the ice.

I'm on my 7th Cetus, & won't buy anything else for any ice rod I own.

Actually the new Symetre 500 FJ weighs in @ 6 oz. -- the Cetus is 6.3 oz.  ;)

And while I like my Cetus SB 500; the Pinnacle Alyssa CR-15 is even better for UL jigging... Just can't find 'em anymore!

I own close to a half dozen  Shimano reels, and have been very happy with them.  Unfortunately the prices keep going up.
I haven't used any (yet) on the ice, but will this year.  On the up side, I have not had to replace any in over 5-8 years of heavy use during open water.  The only damage was self inflicted in an over crowded rod storage box (DOH!), and that was fixed easy enough by a bait/tackle/reel repair place.

If I needed another reel, I'd definitely consider the newest Shimano.

And, no, I have no vested interests in the product/company.  Just a very satisfied customer for many years now.
