For those of you who may use a bait caster for ice fishing. I'm looking for info on brand and source for the rods you use. For many ice fishing applications I prefer a bait caster, but it's difficult to find ice rods designed for their use.
Thanks for any insight you have to offer.

Jason Mitchell Elite Series Walleye 28".
Not sure they're still available.
Look at how the eyelets spiral around the blank.
I've yet to use them - hopefully next year

I have a St. Croix mojo 34” medium-heavy rod that has a small baitcaster (Revo SX) on it. I haven’t had the chance to use it much, but it seems pretty well made.

I use the dock demon rods the are 10.00 with a reel. You toss the reel and the pole is unbreakable and pretty sensitive and if you hook the lunker and it takes the pole you are not out a fortune for the set up. For the record the little spin caster reels so far have held up to 5 lbs rainbows with out failing. I has a plan to replace the reels when they wore out that was 5 years ago.

Not sure what power and length you're looking for, but Reed's Outdoors has the Fenwick Elite Tech 30" Casting in Medium power on sale now for $24.99 - I use the spinning style for my walleye setups.

i was interested in one too about a month ago and found only a few options. have since moved on to other interests.

That's because I don't want you guys to catch all the fish before I get to the lake...
I remember the only option on retail was a Dave Benz gold baitcasting rod for ice fishing. Basically was a heavy laker rod and was about 3 and a half foot long.
Now there's actually a few options. Fenwick Techna, St Croix Mojo, Jason Mitchell, and was a few others. Diawa (Triforce ) shorty, Abu Garcia (something), some youth models in UGLYSTIK version. Maybe just a one season brand/model test market.
And I got mine made custom built from Thorne Bros. To be honest one only need enough line guides to keep line off of rod blank. Any rod blank has potential to have a baitcasting reel mounted onto it.

I also prefer a baitcaster and ultra light rods. I ended up taking a 48" super ultra light quantum rod and cutting it down to 40" and glueing a bait casting handle kit from the mud hole on it, I really like it.

Thanks for all the responses so far. So far all the rods I've found are too long to use in my one man flip. :-\

I dont know how handy you are but building rods isn't too difficult and pretty fun to do. If you're looking for something specific its probably the way to go. Also I'm sure most custom guys would throw a casting handle on a rod for you if you asked. Probably not a whole lot needed for changes in the guide train

Rapala R-Type
i looked at those, i think they are discontinued and hard to find.

I have one of these as well, along with a 34" Jason Mitchell mackinaw . Both work very well and have landed tons of lakers.
