I use waxies never caught a thing on mealies... But I have found that the gulp waxies and red gulp red worms produce better than actual worms and waxies. But there still will be that one day they won't hit anything but real bait.

I looked on their website and 500 are $14 before shipping. Petco has them listed for $16 and they are local.

Being that I live out here in the Uartic Basin and all I can get is Mealworms..... I use Mealworms either on a Gitzit or Glow Rocker jig.  Happy to say I've caught 100's of fish on em!! The best bait you can use for perch is a perch eye and it's tough. Most times you can catch over 10 perch on one eye and they will hit a perch eye over anything else you drop to them. I'm sure a lot of you already knew that but there are those who don't so thought I'd mention it.
If you don't have time to do it right the 1st time  how are you gonna find time to do it over ??

I always take both, that way if 1 or the other isn't getting any bites... never hurts to have the other on hand.

Wax worms seem to work better. Meal worms don't seem to produce for me. Wax worms need to be kept in your pocket or they will freeze fairly easily.

Wax worms over mealworms but I prefer spikes over either one... Plus spikes stay on the hook much better.
