Eskimo Ice Auger Break In
« on: Sep 28, 2018, 10:42 PM »
Guys do you think it will be okay to break in my new Eskimo Z71 ice auger with Opti 2(in the pillow packs is approximately 71:1 per imperial gallon) ? Or should I use the recommended 50:1 2 cycle oil?

Thank you to everyone that looked at this thread. I ended up using Eskimo 50:1 oil to break in my new auger.

I broke my Eskimo Z71 and two Tanaka powerheads with AmsOil Saber around 100:1.

The word recommended sorta means, use no lessor quality oil.

The best lubricant manufacturer will always have the leanest rating, see- 100/1.

That is AMSOIL SABRE !

Break-in can be interpreted as, get the best you can find in the engine at first start-up.    For the first tank, mix SABRE at 60/1 or 75/1.    Warm it up at idle for several minutes and turn it off.  Several hours later it will be cool. Do that again and when warm, give it WOT for only one second, let it idle, then do that again three times and let cool. (Next day, warm it up and rev it up fully (Wide-open-throttle) for 10 seconds, let idle, do that three times and it will have a goodly portion of SABRE in all areas of the engine.   It's not broke but, it's in your hand and ready for a lone life of service, (IF you feed it right.)

Now, you know the truth.  If you can't fine Amsoil locally, GOOGLE will.
