Well, if the spring weather gives you lemons, might as well make some spiked lemonade.
Me and a buddy took the opportunity for an impromptu fishing session with hopes of finding stable ice. We jumped in truck and headed out to Calais. When we got there it would have been wise to bring a 2x12 to avoid soggy boots, but a running leap got the job done.
We were pleasantly surprised to find at least 18" of somewhat mealy ice. Drilled a bunch of holes and eventually found a hungry school of yellow perch.
After this weekend I'd have major hesitation to go for round two. Glad to have one more go on the ice for the year. Ice fishing on 4/18th--didn't see that coming.
