New Ice fishing boots
« on: Jan 14, 2018, 09:42 PM »
Ok, I moved and packed my boots and can't find them. I'm guessing in a box on the bottom of a storage unit and I'm not in the mood to dig. So time to upgrade the old Cabelas 1000 insulated boot. So any suggestions to start looking at. I really don't like the pull on. Like Mucks give me lase ups please. Cabelas after being purchased by Basspro decided not to carry any good boots anymore on the name brand. They have everything else so with this issue, anyone have any GOOD suggestions????
No one left behind.

I just picked up some Irish setters elk trackers this year. 1000gram. Fishing this year the coldest day so far the wind chill was below neg 20. Feet continued to sweat all evening and still stayed warm while I sat to fish. My buddy had his arctic mucks on and we had to leave because his feet got cold. Stay away from those. I imagine they are like the Cabelas but from the lols of the price you posted I think I overpaid if they are. $220...

Muck arctic sport. I used to wear them on cell towers in the winter when I climbed, great for ice fishing, comfortable!

I have been using cabelas inferno 2000 gram thinsulate boots for about 5-6 years. Waterproof, warm boot. I am going to buy the trans Alaska boots within the next year or so. I am not a huge fan of cablelas brand products, but the 2000 inferno boots have been awesome for me.

I go between my Artic Mucks and The Cabelas Trans-Alaskans, depending on the temp and length of the outing. Both are an awesome products in my opinion.

I use cheap snow board boots. They are very warm and water proof. Can pick them up for less than 50 dollars.

I have had 4-5 pairs of heavy duty lace up Pac-Boots, from Sorel, Cabelas Trans Alaskan, Baffin, Danner.  All leaked within a few seasons.  Maybe I am tough on them, but we usually spend quite a bit of time standing in slushy overflow, and the boots undergo freeze/thaw cycles.  I also run the auger after drilling to clear the holes of slush, which pours water over the boots over and over.  About 5 seasons ago, I bought some Bogs extreme cold weather boots.  Basically a copy of the Arctic Muck.  I have had warm, dry feet ever since!  I will never go back to the lace up, pac-boot style.....

Haven't worn Baggins ,but would guess they would be the only boot even close to the trans Alaskan.  I was in the market last year and settled on the cabelas.  I have spend over 16 hours straight on the ice and feet never cold.  Last trip I forgot boot socks, only had athletic ankle socks.  Feet were fine.  Amazing.  Will say they are bulky, but I don't run marathons in mine.  I walk to a spot and hole hop a bit or sit/ stand all day.  The purpose for me was warm feet no matter what.  Not agility.  U won't be disappointed. I cannot recommend these enough if what u want is warm feet.  Fit my trekkers over them no prob. Also

I replaced my last pair with some Sorel Glacier XT’s. Absolutely the warmest boots I’ve ever had.  Check them out:
