Any reports of ice thickness yet? Primarily around the glacial lakes area. Thanks!! Good luck if anyone is making it out yet

People we talked to today not by open water said the ice was 4 to 6 inches on Whitewood. Guys were fishing withing 10 feet of open water by the south side bridge! Crazy!!

The temps for today and tomorrow will not help the situation (high 30s to low 40s). This coming Friday through next week it is looking like it'll be real cold (low double and single digits), so we should start seeing safer ice next week.

Had a couple buddies try it last weekend on a smaller lake north of Waubay and they were on 6-8 inches.

I won't drive a vehicle out on the ice until I see plenty of them out there.

Thanks for the post.  Its a ten hour drive for us so we would like to have enough ice to be able to drive on the lakes.  I'm thinking should be middle to late next week with the weather forecast.

There's still waterfowl holding spots open on many lakes.  I'd use extreme caution driving out next week even with the single digit lows coming.

I know the cold temps just started tonight, but any update in the next few days around the Webster area would be appreciated .

We are heading up to Waubay Thursday - hoping trucks are on the ice by then.

I am sure there will be a few on some of the lakes by then.  There are side by side out now and this past week.  But there were still spots of open water before last weekend.  Good luck and be safe.

We are headed up there Thursday as well. My truck will not be on the ice. I have a perfectly good side by side for that. Yeah, I'm a scaredy cat.
