Just curious if anyone has ever fished Silver lake? Doesn't look like easy access.

I've always wanted to fish it through the ice, but unfortunately it is closed to ice fishing. Maybe someday they will open it, but not likely. Near impossible to get safety crews out there if someone falls through.

No problem. Someday when the kiddos are bigger, I plan on dragging a rowboat out there with a trolling motor.

Make sure you check the regs before going.
Last I knew motors are not an option.
It will be an easier portage with just oars though.

I think the state dumps broodstock trout in it. A few guys coming down as we were heading up told us of a 10 lb rainbow they had caught. Another guy later told us he helped net it. This was in the Summer. Have not heard of much else from there. Not very easy access...

No internal combustion motors, but electric is fine. Speed limit is 5mph.

My cousin caught a rainbow that wasn't weighed, but was around 30" long, and I'm assuming 8lb+.

Its a tough trail to get anything in other than float tubes.  Even a canoe is tough.

Are you sure?  I'm pretty sure the sign I saw prohibited electric motors, too.  The language was something like "any device meant to propel a boat".

I fished there a few times this fall.  Skunked every time.

SHHH.....my secret hole! We don't put broodstock in there anyone (brookies 20 years ago). There is a population of smelt(where the current Bomo smelt came from) and yearling stocking of brookies and rainbows with occasional browns trickling out of Sucker Brook/Goshen Dam.

I was going off the regulations book. If I dragged my stuff out there and saw that little extra note tagged on the board, I'd be something pi$$ed. Having a 5 mph limit would also be misleading. I would go off the book. Those are updated every year. Signs are not.
